Charles J. Keeling, CUSP

Charlie Keeling has over 30 years of diversified safety experiences, which includes Occupational Safety & Health in Construction and General Industries, Fire Safety Prevention and Investigation, as well as Public Safety in Law Enforcement.

Charlie holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Community and Human Services, with a Concentration in Fire & Emergency Management from SUNY Empire State College. In addition, he achieved an Associate in Applied Science Degree in Fire Protection Technology and a Certificate in Fire Investigation from Suffolk Community College.

Charlie is an independent safety consultant and owner of CJK Safety Consulting, LLC; providing a wide range of safety related services.

Concurrently, Charlie’s safety employment opportunities consist of PSEGLI, where he is a Certified Utility Safety Professional and Safety and Regulatory Compliance Specialist.

Formally, Charlie was Safety Director for Gershow Recycling Corporation. Charlie was active in many recycling industry safety initiatives, serving as working group leader for numerous best safety practices with the Institute Scrap Recycling Industry.

Beforehand, Charlie was employed by Tully Construction Co. as a Safety Manger and was assigned to the NYC World Trade Center Recovery, Clean-up and Rehabilitation project; Greenpoint NY, Newtown Creek NYCDEP Sewage Treatment Plant Construction project.

Furthermore, Charlie is happily retired from NYC Police Department after 20 years of service.

Charlie spent 25 years as a Volunteer Fire Fighter on Long Island, attaining rank of Assistant Chief, while also accomplishing Level 1 NYS Fire Investigator and NYS EMT.

Charlie has been an active member with ASSP and the Long Island Chapter for the last 13 years, where he is Past Chapter President and recipient of the chapter Safety Professional of the Year award in 2010. Charlie continues to serve the chapter as a frequent speaker at annual PDC’s and technical meetings, as well as supporting Chapter Board initiatives.

In his off time, Charlie’s interest includes Boating, Fishing, and the enjoying the Beach. In addition, he enjoys maintaining his muscle car & attending car shows. Previously, he was active coaching youth travel baseball; now just working with training his son and attending games.
