Joseph Terranova – Senior Fire Protection Engineer and Site Fire Marshal at Brookhaven National Laboratory. Mr. Terranova is a Mechanical Engineer with an undergraduate degree from Binghamton University and a graduate degree from Cornell University. Mr. Terranova has over 25 years of experience in fire protection and life safety. He is a certified firefighter, paramedic, hazardous materials specialist, building code official and fire investigator. He holds professional memberships in the NFPA and Society of Fire Protection Engineers.
A review of fire system technology will be presented. A breakdown of the different types of smoke and heat detectors will be introduced. The NYS carbon monoxide law will be explained. The attendees will be able to select the appropriate detectors and identify the alarm notification arrangements (audible alarms, visual alerts, and communication systems).
